You will get much better results when you properly prep. It all starts with a good canvas! The eyebrow area must be healthy, strong, non-sensitive and non-irritated. Here’s how to get your skin ready for the procedure.

·     Do not pick/tweeze/wax/preform electrolysis one week prior to the procedure

·     Do not tan two weeks prior or have sunburned face

·     Do not have any type of facial/peel two weeks prior to treatment

·     Discontinue use of Vitamin A/ Retinol products one month prior to treatment

·     Do not work out the day of the procedure

·     Do not get Botox 3 weeks prior to treatment

·     Do not take Fish Oil or Vitamin E one week prior to procedure (natural blood thinners)

·     Do not tint your eyebrows three days before the procedure

·     Do not drink alcohol 24-48 hours before your tattoo

·     Do not consume coffee before your procedure

·     Do not take Aspirin or Ibuprofen for pain relief (this thins the blood)

POST PROCEDURE CARE

Consult a health care provider for any of the following:

1.     Unexpected redness, tenderness, or swelling at the site of the body art procedure.

2.     Any rash.

3.     Unexpected drainage at or from the site of the body art procedure.

4.     A fever within 24 to 48 hours of the body art procedure.

Some redness/swelling/light bruising and slight itching during the healing process is normal.  If you experience heavy itching, extreme swelling, blistering, or any other complications, stop using your after-care products immediately.  If symptoms continue, or you experience shortness of breath/trouble breathing go to the closest Hospital ER immediately. You may be having an allergic reaction to the pigment or the aftercare product you are using.

General instructions for care of all Permanent Make-up Applications:  One touch-up visit is free and must be scheduled for, and completed, between 4 to 6 weeks post procedure.  You will lose your free touch-up if you fail to have it done in that time frame unless a special arrangement is made with your technician on your procedure day. If you no-show touch-up appointment there can be no special arrangement – you will have to pay for your touch-up. Most permanent makeup applications procedures are a two-step process.  Final results cannot be determined until touch-up application is completed.  The touch-up is intended to fill any discoloration caused by the healing and shedding process.  We strongly suggest to all clients that they make an appointment and come in to let us see the procedure area(s) whether or not they feel they need a touch-up.  Do not wash/use makeup remover on the procedure area(s) or apply makeup for 24 hours.  DO not touch the procedure area(s) with your fingers, they may have bacteria on them and create an infection.  Use a clean cotton swab to apply Aquaphor 5 times daily for 7 to 10 days. We suggest Aquaphor as it is non-reactive in most clients.  If you are allergic to it call your Doctor for an alternative.  Do not rub or traumatize the procedure area(s) while it is healing (pigment may be removed along with crusting tissue).  Avoid contact with animals, gardening, sun, sauna, Jacuzzi, chlorine pools, ocean, steam rooms.  To preserve color for a longer time, always use a “total sun block” sunscreen until the area(s) has healed to prevent future fading of pigment color.  Do not use products that contain AHA’s on the procedure area(s).  (Example: Glycolic, Lactic Acids.)  Always check your product labeling as these products will fade you pigment color.

For all permanent makeup procedures: Avoid swimming, tanning, steam rooms, or Jacuzzi for one week.

The day of the treatment:  Absorb

After the procedure, gently blot the area with clean tissue to absorb excess lymph fluid.  Do this every 5 minutes for the full day until the oozing has stopped.  Removing this fluid prevents hardening of the lymph fluids.

Days 1-7: Wash

Wash daily to remove bacteria, build up of product and oils, and dead skin. (Don’t worry, THIS DOES NOT REMOVE THE PIGMENT!)  Gently wash your eyebrows each morning and night with water and am antibacterial soap. With a very light touch, use your fingertips to gently cleanse the eyebrows.  Rub the area in a smooth motion for 10 seconds and rinse with water ensuring that all soap is rinsed away.  To Dry, Gently pat with a clean tissue.  DO NOT use any cleansing products containing acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA), or exfoliants.

Days 1-7: Moisturize

Apply a rice grain amount of Aquaphor with a cotton swab and spread it across the treated area.  Be sure not to over-apply, as this will suffocate your skin and delay healing. The ointment should be barely noticeable on the skin.  NEVER put the ointment on a wet or damp tattoo.  AWM should have you covered, but here are some extra tips to help with a smooth and easy recovery:

Important reminders

·     Use a fresh pillowcase while you sleep

·     Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away.  Picking can cause scarring or loss of color.

·     No facials, botox, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks.

·     Avoid hot, sweaty exercise for one week.

·     Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 4 weeks after the procedure and wear a hat when outdoors.

·     Avoid long, hot showers for the first 10 days.

·     Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days.

·     Avoid topical makeup and sunscreen on the area.

·     DO NOT rub, pick, or scratch the treated area.

Remember, with the proper prep and aftercare routine, you will have much better results with your microblading procedure.

Important note about showering:

Limit your showers to 5 minutes so that you do not create too much steam.  Keep your face/procedure area out of the water while you wash your body, then, at the end of your shower, wash your hair.  Your face should only be getting wet at the end of shower.  Avoid excessive rinsing and hot water on the treated area.
